I’ve always enjoyed this cake, but my recent experience was a bit disappointing. The sponge was a bit hard, which made me wonder if it had been defrosted from the freezer before being assembled. The texture wasn’t as soft and light as usual. Additionally, the cream layer had barely any lychee in it, whereas it used to be a key feature of the cake. I’m hoping this was just a one-off, and that the quality can return to what it was before.
It was a bit dry. Expected more lychee flavour. Didnt think it was worth the price tag.

The sponge was light and fluffy, the cream was not overly sweet and the cake was beautifully decorated. But the jam was much too sweet and was overpowering. We couldn't finish the cake because it was way too sweet.
